Rod Evans
I believe I've made a post of Rod before, but does anyone know his current whereabouts or what he's doing? Musicians that disappear fascinate me. I was considering travelling to Cambridge to try and find Syd Barrett before he died.

Re: Rod Evans
Syd wasn't hard to find. If you respected the man's condition, you wouldn't join the hordes that went to Cambridge in order to track him down, though.
Rod, on the other hand, is a truly fascinating case.

Re: Rod Evans
I read on a Captain Beyond site that the other members haven't seen him since 1974.Also he had a band in 1980 using the DP name with all unknown members. No one has heard his whereabouts since. It's a shame he is a great singer!!

Ian Paice talk about Rod in an recent interview at the Deep Purple Hub. Paice doesen't know where Rod is (he think's he is living in California), but he'd heard that Rod is in a really bad shape because of alcohol.

To reconfirm, when I met Ian Paice in Clearwater this Agust, he indicated to me that he recently had been informed that Rod is not doing well. He didn't elaborate any further nor did I press him.
Fact - Ian Paice knows where Rod lives.

Re: Rod Evans
I wonder if Rod knows how much he is appreciated by most, if not all DP fans. Those first 3 albums were great!

I certainly hope he does, Dog. I'd think it'd be wonderful if those sentiments have either already been passed on to Rod or could be expressed to him.
I also wonder if the 1980/81 settlement against him is still enforceable as far as any future earnings in the music business...I'm pretty sure that the prevention of Evans collecting royalties for those 3 studio albums would still be in effect & after 26 - 27 years I'm sure that that amount must be fairly substantial, with or without accrued 'interest' - I think a fair solution to that would be to apply whatever that amount is and charge it against the punitive damage(s) that were awarded to (basically) Tony Edwards & John Coletta and thusly finally settling the thing and that would allow Evans to at least consider some sort of a return to the music business, should he be interested, without his having to worry about participating under his own name & having to cede any potential earnings to whatever entity represents Edwards' & Coletta's business interests...let's face it, the amount over these last 26 - 27 years has stayed in the Deep Purple organizations coffers and I'm fairly certain that the liqidity that it provided would balance out the 'debt' of the punitive damage(s) awarded in the settlement of the early '80s.
