Rod Evans
Given that the current DP line-up tours the world with only one original member in it, was the Rod Evans so called bogus DP such a bad thing after all.
He was a member of DP, DP had disbanded and it didn't look like they were getting back together, ok, so he was going to play a bunch of songs he hadn't recorded, but Gillan sings Hush, and in reality wasn't Hush DP's biggest single in the US, where Rod intended to tour with his DP, and it was Rod who sang it, and Rod was there when they came up with the name of the band?
Understand he lost all his royalties over the case as well which given there finaces .... is pretty mean.
If i was Rod i would travel the world selling T Shirts outside the're shows, maybe with an Herionymus Bosch painting printed on the front, or do they own that too?

Re: Rod Evans
I wouldn't go that far, as what Rod did was a crime, and he pays to this day, unless the system failed him, and he didn't do what he did with malice, which isn't the way the system viewed it.
He was a part of the band prior to it finding it's musical feet, and that line up after 1976, was no longer considered the Deep Purple that should bare the name, should it ever be resurrected.
That was the basis of their complaint, and it held up in court, and that says by law, that he and the others involved, were in fact defrauding the name.
Rod is my favorite singer to this day, and I would like to know he is alive and doing well, but what he did, was something he should regret, and probably does, like any righfull conviction outcome should produce.

Re: Rod Evans
Obviously what Rod did was wrong but it seems to me he has been given a raw deal over the years. If someone offered me the chance to see, say, Rod and Nicky together doing something or the current line-up, I think I'd go for the former. Purple have gone through so many changes that any combination that lacks Blackmore and Lord has to be questionable anyway.
Good luck to Rod and I hope he is okay.

Well yeah i'm sure he feels sick, probably ruined him, and the fact that he sang on the 1st 3 albums which really broke the ground into the US, and sang on there biggest US chart hit, counts for nothing.
They took it to court so quick because they knew that one day soon the re-union would be on there agenda, and nothing was going to spoil that pay day!
