Re: Purple Mk1 on UK tv ad
I saw that and the more I listened the more I thought it was a more recent version - Kula Shaker?
see this (Jaguar car fans forum it would appear):

Re: Purple Mk1 on UK tv ad
You can tell it's DP. Although Kula Shaker's version has been used on a car advert recently as well.

Re: Purple Mk1 on UK tv ad
Yesterday I went to a second hand record/comic/book/DVD shop and the owner (who I know) had DP Mk1 playing. He commented how good some of it sounded after a longish period of time. I noticed he had put LLRO box set on his playlist, as well.
A memorable comment he made: "I actually like this early Lord-led sound more than the most of the later heavier stuff. Well, of course there's In Rock..."
I was in a record faire some time ago and there one of the sellers had DP (the third album) on, and I also heard Hush on the radio just last week. Is Mk1 striking a chord just now?

Well, not necessarily Mk I as such, but maybe the sound of the sixties is becoming fashionable now. If you just give a listen to the recent UK No.1 album - "The Age of Understatement" by Last Shadow Puppets (of Arctic Monkeys fame), you'll discover that this lot sounds like a perfect crossing between Yardbirds and Searchers in every respect. So maybe - if a band sounding like Mark 1 turned up with some good, catchy, melodic songs, who knows what would happen?

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check that out.
I wonder to which age does the album's title refer to. Certainly not to the current era of gross overstatements, in which everything is 'classic' and 'legendary'.
