Surely someone must know? When I met Ian Paice 2 years ago in Clearwater, FL he told me that through a mutual friend he had heard that Rod was battling alcholism. Just want to know if Mr. Evans is doing ok. I miss him.

BTW, if this mutual friend of both Rod and Ian visits this site or if Rod's children frequent the board can you kindly give an update? I can certainly respect the fact that Rod wants to protect his privacy.

All the best.

I don't believe anyone knows for 100% sure. Even the "Northern California" speculation, I'm not so sure of anymore.

If the guy doesn't wish to be found, I'm not sure there's much more that could be done.

Sad really.... to me Evans propelled my interest in Purple to begin with. Gillan, though armed with the heavy sound that most people were looking for, just didn't give the band what I thought Evans did.

So while his contribution was unique and special-- no doubt-- I'm betting we're probably going to just have to let this one go and be grateful we have three remastered albums from Mk 1, plus Inglewood '68, plus whatever else anyone can find from the era.

I'm still looking for rare footage from the ABC Shopping Center in Evansville, IN.... but I too think I have to bite the bullet and let that one go!
