Jeff Healey R.I.P.

Just heard the news. Healey died of cancer at 41. It's a pity. I wasn't a big fan, but he was surely a talented musician.

Loved Gillan's comment on the making of Gillan's Inn DVD about Healey:

Tragic indeed, as I followed his career and found him one of the best ever!
Hooking up with Ian was a nice touch for him, thats for sure... I think it might have been through MLJ, that they were associated, but however, the important thing is that they did some music together and spent time getting to know each other a bit.

I am/was a bit of a fan of his, listened a lot to him around 15-20 years ago, and recently bought one of his jazz records too. Great musician! I will miss him a lot.

Sad news.

Jeff Healey played at Notodden Bleusfestival a couple of yars ago. I was short of a ticket, but gathered outside the fence to listen and have a sneak view through the fences. He didn't lack charisma, that much I noticed.

Exceptional player, and very tastful musician indeed!

I was more a fan of Jeff the blues/rocker but did see him and the Jazz Wizards a few years ago and it was obvious how much he loved that music. He was a great music fan as well as musician and will be sorely missed.
