Dreamcatcher

Re-visiting this Gillan solo album.

It's a very good album, and so much better than Naked Thunder and Toolbox.

Re: Dreamcatcher

I don't recall anything else from those two albums but Dancing Nylon Shirt Pt2 I really want to hear now and then.

Perhaps I ought to give them a spin too one of these days.

Re: Dreamcatcher

It's been awhile since I've given any of those three a spin, but from what I remember is that Naked and Tool are both good typical hard rock albums and that Dreamcatcher is more of "homemade", almost type of demo album.

I remember liking Naked thunder a lot when it came out.

Re: Dreamcatcher

The homemade feel make me like it less than the other two, even though it has great tracks on it. The two Dreamcatcher tracks that were remade for Gillan's Inn both sound much better there than in their original versions.

Toolbox is rough, strait hard rock, a lot of screaming, but it's not bad at all, and even though I had some problems at first with Naked Thunder because of it's sound, but some tracks are really good on it too.

Re: Dreamcatcher

I love Dreamcatcher (for that homemade sound in particular). Apparently they used a drum machine? Whatever. That’s what drums are supposed to sound like. emoticon I think they did a remarkably good job with their limited resources and I prefer this to the over-production of some of his other discs. It sounds more like what he should naturally be doing. (Country Mile is what Wasted Sunsets could be). emoticon What I’ve heard of the Gillan era didn’t really do much for me. There were a few songs (but they weren’t the rock songs). I think rock music lost it’s way in the 80’s. The early blues/ jazz/soul/country/folk influences were gone. It all just started to sound the same to me.

Re: Dreamcatcher

I loved NT and TB when they came out, but now they just sound like average rock albums that a hundred other bands were making. Dreamcatcher is more interesting to listen to years later because the songs are much more individual and unique.
