DEEP PURPLE'S 40th
OK its 40years of DP this year and the only thing i've heard is Jon Lord saying he wants to do something.
It really should have some sort of celebration of the bands history. I know Ian says only look forward etc but it would be a crime (to the fans!) if something didn't happen.
what you all think?

Of course it is. The fact that there is only one band member who was there at the start is irrelevant.
Of course, if you only count the classic line-up they will never achieve a 40th anniversary so the only definition that fits is for the band as a whole, because if you discount MK 1 then you have to treat all the other MKs the same including all the separate incarnations of MK 2.
Not that it matters to me anyway, I lost interest when Blackmore left. I still buy the albums but have no real interest in Morse as a guitarist. No critisism of his talent implied, just not my taste.

Interesting point. This year, it is 40 years since the band started. However, is this the 39th anniversary? Plus, the band doesn't turn 40 years either, as we know.
However, I'm ready to party two years, or the eight or so which the band was split!

I was counting all Marks. Just the time where the band was split isn't valid for me to count in.
I know they always did it this way. But somehow it is a little bit fudged.
