Smaller Venues
Don't you sometimes just wish that the likes of Deep Purple etc would go back to playing the smaller venues again, like they did in the early 70's?
I saw them at The Rainbow(London) in early 73 and during that tour they played other small halls and theatres. The sound was better than the cattle sheds they play now as well. I'm sure that Deep Purple could fill some of these venues a couple of days running if they wanted to. The fans would get a better sound and view and the band wouldn't need another big name co headliner to help fill the venues.

Totally agree,I would prefer to see any band in a small venue.You get more of a concert feel stood on the floor swaying around than sat in a big comfy chair several light years away from the stage.

I've probably seen them as much or more in small-medium size halls than large venues since 85, places like HOB for instance, they play a combo of both these days, and rarely over 10,000 seaters.

You could try the motorshow gig in July
that's only 600, should be fairly intimate

600?  I might go then! I was deciding against it because I thought it was going to be some huge arena...

I didn't necessarily mean that small a venue but heck, if I can get one of those 600 tickets that will certainly be worth a trip.

You are quite right, i have just been back
on and seen the same thing.
Funny thing is i had that page up at least 30 times on
friday and saturday, and every time it said 600.
Either i need glasses (not), or the webpage has been updated/changed.
If that has caused problems for anybody....sorry !
