Yes, I read that in a newspaper advert last week and thought WTF! Who are they? I know I can google them but DP's support band should be better known, surely?

Could this be a sign that the 'end' is near?

Still looking forward to Birmingham gig in November.

Deep Purple's UK support on the Purpendicular tour (Panram) and the Abandon tour (Orphic Soup) were of course extremely famous mega-stars that we all remember fondly. We could all tell that the end wasn't near when they hit the stage before Deep Purple!

Re: UK Support

The reality, of course, is that when Deep Purple have unknown support bands, the support comes on, does a 30-minute set and clears off, leading to a superb 2+ hours Deep Purple show.

When the support band are mega-stars like Lynrd Skynrd, they play an hour, plus they're so big that THEY have to have support bands themselves and Deep Purple only give us a 90-minute show because the support needs so much extra time. And the combined package is so hugely popular that they need to play the Giant Concrete Toilet (aka Wembley Arena) to fit all the fans in, instead of the Best Rock Venue In The World (aka Hammersmith Odeon).

Bring on The Crave is what I say!

No! I means that Purple are giving a unknown band a big chance!

I hope you guys are right.

Incidentally, the LG Arena in Birmingham is BIG, so does this mean it'll be half empty?

It might not be full, but since they don't play Nottingham or Cardiff as they did last time, it means they hope some people who travelled to these cities last time will do the extra miles to Birmingham I think, to offset the loss due to the absence of big support band.

In January 2006, The Answer supported Deep Purple at their London Astoria gig. They have since become more recognised and popular.

Also, with it not being one of these big double bill type things, Deep Purple should play for about two hours as opposed to the usual 90 minutes.
