Re: Favorite track on "Burn"

Re: Favorite track on "Burn"
Burn is a bona fide heavy metal song, as is Mistreated (the latter more "blues metal").
But "Burn" is SUCH a great song, that it just wins out over the rest of the album by alot. Like Erich E.,I'll take the live version of Mistreated any day over the studio. Unlike Erich E., I'll take the Rainbow Live in Germany version over any other.

I think only the released 1975 DP live versions (MIE, LiP, Mk3FC) are on par or even better than the studio version. The last mentioned sounds a bit restrained in comparison to the live versions, but it is that relative 'fragility' of it that does it for me. RB's end solo in the studio version is one of his very best ever (of course the following track, A200, sees another career highlight solo!).
I just listened, back to back, Live in London and Live in Paris 1975. IMO, while there's plenty of enthusiasm in the first mentioned and I love the album, LiP sounds superior in every respect. The band is SO tight, and the sound is amazing. DC has gotten more depth to his voice and is simply breathtaking on Mistreated.
I think Rainbow's version was largely unfocused and unnecessary, but then RB did love the song.
My favourite Rainbow Mistreated moment is from the 1990s, when Doogie did that scream in the chorus after the guitar solo; "[sung:]Baby I've been losing my [prolonged, screamed:]mind!" I always get goosebumps from that bit!
