When A Blind Man Cries VS Soldier Of Fortune

Two very similar classic DP songs... I have a hard time choosing which one is better. They're both great... I love songs like these that are slow, sad, atmospheric. Are there any other Deep Purple songs like this? ( I havent heard their entire catalouge ).

Wasted Sunsets (of the Perfect Strangers album) has a similar vibe, but isn't perhaps as good as those two.

Of the Morse era, Loosen My Strings and Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming (both of the Purpendicular album) are great ballad-ish songs.

Love all the songs metioned but Wasted Sunsets is THE song to rule em all!

Soldier of Fortune outclasses the rest for me. When A Blind Man Cries comes close, but Wasted Sunsets, Don't Make Me Happy and Walk On don't even get near.

And if nobody else dare to: HAUNTED! Wonderful little tune! Why the heck doesn't radiostations play this??? It's way better than most crap radios pull out these days!

If I was having my arm twisted I'd have to give it to WABMC although SoF is only fractionally behind it. Nothing to separate them really!

I don't think any ballads since have come close to the emotion that went into these two songs. Wasted Sunsets for me is a run of the mill album filler.
