Glover - Has worked with RB longer than any other band member. Seems like a very honest guy. Was in Rainbow from the last Dio days to the JLT era. Could tell us many interesting things that went on in Rainbow from how Dio departed, Bonham's and JLT's tenure there.

Lord - Can give us an inside look of what Mark III and Mark IV was like. We know he wasn't the fondest of the Mark IV era. Also could tell us about his tenure in Whitesnake where DC was trying to compete with RB on how fast he could replace the musicians in his band.

Blackmore - Would not really look forward to that. RB has a reputation for stretching the truth and he would probably spend most of the book telling talking about Blackmore's Nights.

I'd surely love to hear/read about this Bonham character's tenure with Rainbow. emoticon

I'm surprised Joleene hasn't tried to write one...I can see it now

I'd love to read one by Roger so I can work out why he took so much crap from the band and STILL came back for more (including a stint in Rainbow). Seems to me he was either picked on or let down by just about everyone.

To hear something from both Jon and Ian P. would always be fascinating too.

A couple of years ago Glover had promised one in response to the glossed over self indulgent nonsense that Gillan wrote in his. He said that he would write about the way things really go down.
However, since he bashed Blackmore in the CHOHW video, it's quite obvious that he's really clueless as well.

Clueless about what? A 48 year old man should throw a temper tantrm like a 3 year old? All the band members agreed Blackmore was an idiot then.

Many fans did too...although some people like Brian have problems getting over it.

Well, and not only because I'm a drummer, but I think that Paicey's Purple story would definitly be the most complete, accurate and interesting, having always been there, he can't have missed what 's been said about past members and how or why others were chosen.

Plus, I believe-for having met him-that he has a great sense of humor and doesn't seem to want to pull the blanket in any way more than an other.

And a drummer's point of view is always the best anyway, we watch from behind what the frontmen are doing! emoticon

I thought the show was great and only added to the danger zone that Purple worked in. It was the band who seemed to have the problem. After hearing first hand from Rob what went down, it just made more sense to me what happened. I'm surprised the band still had a problem, and still has a problem.
I don't know what Brian thinks of it though and won't speak for him.

Ian Paice is known as the diplomat of the band. So I assume he would keep many things to himself which could be of interest for the readers. Therefore I think he wouldn't be the "best" book author although of course it's true that he has the advantage of having been there all the time.

I think it needs more than one author to cover the whole DP history. About Mk IV (the only line-up without Gillan AND Blackmore) I'd like to read Ian Paice's thoughts indeed.

About the other line-ups: A few years ago, I would have said that I'd prefer to read two books, one from Ian Gillan, one from Ritchie Blackmore because they're the most "controversical" guys of them all. Meanwhile I'm completely fed up with Gillan's ongoing Blackmore bashing, so my final choice is as follows:

- Ian Paice for the Mk IV episode
- Ritchie Blackmore for the time from 1968 to 1993 excluding Mk IV

For the time from 1994 onwords I don't "need" a book author due to lack of interest.
