There is already so much written from a MK2 perspective, that I'd love to get an insight into the mind of the former drug-addled bass player with the weight problem who sang like an angel and partied like a beast.

There's a great story in there to tell, from gigging in the 1960s Black Country to headlining stadiums on world tours, from being at death's door with half of Peru up his nose, to emerging as one of the finest British singers in the last 15 years.

It's a tale of tragedy and triumph, of peaks and troughs. It's a tale that should be told.

The best biography I've ever read was Shakey (Neil Young) by Jimmy McDonough who is also a hardcore NY fan (he didn't pull any punches though). Very detailed and factual but never dull. How about from a Purple fans perspective?

Probably with Purple it wouldn't work because there are so many different views on what went down, on who is responsible, and what has been true and fabricated. When half the band's members change their tune over a series of interviews, it's impossible to gather a straight anwser. Neil Young is one person, DP is like 12 people and what, 10 lineups?

True, there are a lot of pieces to the DP puzzle (so to speak) and I don't know if the truth ever comes out in these kinds of books but given enough facts and details the reader can sort of come to their own conclusions. I just thought this bio was unique as it was from a long-time fans perspective and that's rare to follow someone's career for so long.

Your sources are the problem, combined with your lack of patience and control. Realax!(referring of course not only to this post)

All of them : Blackmore / Gillan / Lord / Paice / Glover / Payne / Turner
about the périod 84/93

...and we will have terrible painful headaches to try to discover the real story hidden behind all their words !!
