Finally took the plunge....
....and ordered my first CD's online, without getting in the car and driving to the store. I was real nervous at first, hoping I was doing it right, but I think it's gonna' turn out okay.
I went to Amazon.com through THS. I know I'll be back, but I started off by ordering "Early Years", the CD with the Mk 1 remixes. The sample of the slightly different organ solo on the beginning to "Hey Joe" is what sold me on getting this.
The other one is "Deep Purple in Concert- 1970/1972" I have wanted that album on CD for the longest time. My LP has scratches on it and my self-recorded cassette off the LP is equally thrashed. How nice it will be to zip straight to the songs I want without having to wait for tape to fast-forward!!
I'm a little confused how to go back and bundle two orders into one, and I don't think I did it right. They're being shipped separately with shipping and handling charges for each ...  Oh well, with practice, I'll get the hang of it.
The next ones I want to order are the 25th Anniversary Editions of "Fireball" and "In Rock". Then the remaster of "Machine Head", and eventually, the "Burn" remaster. Has it come out yet? Has a "Stormbringer" remaster come out yet?
Though, I think I have to be careful. As I run down the list, it appears that the original studio CD's are mixed in with the remasters w/ bonus tracks. If I'm not careful, I could accidently order the original albums, which I don't want.
How do I know that the "Burn" I'm ordering is the "remastered 'Burn'"? It doesn't say "bonus edition" in so many words on the description.
And then of course I STILL need to get "Purpendicular" and "Abandon"; so you see I have a lot of shopping left to do, but patience and pacing is key.
Yea, shopping on line is kind of neat, but I reckon I gotta' be careful, or I'll wind up spending more money at once than I bargained for!

Hi John,
well on the german amazon site they say something like "if you continue your shopping within the next 90 minutes we will bundle your order".How to go back and bundle later I don't know,never did that before.
The copys of Burn and Stormbringer that you've seen are not the new remasters because they still aren't out yet.
Btw.,have the "Powerhouse" remaster coming in soon.

B3 Burner. I know it doesn't seem safe to put your credit card or any other info online, but believe me, it's actually safer than giving your card to a waiter at a restaurant. My wife has an online store and the cards go direct to your card company for approval, and if there is a problem, she only knows that there is a problem and asks you to re-submit probably due to a # being out. I have never had a problem buying anything on line.

Most companies will do as RS's wife does. Everything is handled automatically and your credit card number is never seen by human eyes. As RS says, it's much more risky to hand over your card to a total strainger in a resturant. (That's why I always carry enough cash when I go out!)
But you can't guarantee that's what happens. Even with a big, reputable company, you really have no idea of how they're treating your card number.
I used to work for a company (a big, reputable company) that had a terrible attitude to on-line orders. Your credit card # would be e-mailed round the office, printed out, and then usually lie on someone's desk for a while, before finally being typed in to our card processing system by some low-paid, non-security-vetted admin person.
Does that sound scary? Well, that's exactly what happens when you give your # to somebody over the phone, and people don't think twice about making a phone booking.
The bottom line is that security in Internet transactions is no worse than any other transaction but it is usually better.

Gosh, I really don't know. It said "DP in Concert" it had all the little square pictures of the five guys doing their thing, mosaiced across the cover, and there was no mention of "hibridization". What is SACD anyway?
Damn!! I hope I didn't screw something up.
You see, this is exactly what I was afraid of. You think you're ordering one thing, and in reality you're getting Don Ho or Englebert Humperdink singing Mandrake Root and Space Trucking!! 
Ah crap! I'm sh**ing bricks now....I feel lightheaded....I think I need to lay down.
$20 later, and Gillan's Micstand thinks I might have ordered the wrong thing....Ahhh, this is just great!

No No No Jouhn,either way you ordered the right thing,I was just wondering if it is the hibrid SACD,so I can get a review of how good it sounds.
SACD is one of the best formats,like DVD Audio or DTS,I'll explain later.

No it is not...but it is still a very nice double-CD.
Disk one covers the February 1970 concert, and disk two covers the March 1972 concert.
Apparently the whole 1972 concert never fit properly on the LP, and it was in the wrong order.
Here on this CD, they were able to include a version of "Maybe I'm a Leo" and "Smoke..." that I had never heard before.
Very nice to hear this all "cleaned up".
Some of the parts that had lots of echo on the LP, were remixed "dry", so the parts stand out better.
I can hardly wait to see what "Early Years" is going to sound like. Should be arriving in the mail any day now!
