Sorry to hear this. I have 3 Trapeze albums, 2 with Glenn, one without. And Slide It In European, and Donnington 83 on Video. It's a shock to me... emoticon

Thats really sad news cant say I was ever a huge fan of Mel Galley his guitar playing left me a bit cold(I preferred Bernie Marsden in Whitesnake) some of the Trapeze stuff he did was good though.

I will alwasy love Mel's contribution to Whitesnake, and thought he was fabulous on stage with them, he pushed them along very well, sang and played wonderfully, especially on the Sweden DVD, he was all over that performance, and it's a great document.

Trapeze never floated my boat as far as he and Glenn go, same with David and Glenn with Purple, but something about WS took off after that, and Glenn has always been fine after Purple, so I'm glad they were in Purple, even if it wasn't my cup of tea, it was later when they came full circle for me.

Sorry to hear about Mel... a great talent, if underrated at that.

Just shows you how opinions and tastes can vary Gillans micstand I thought Whitesnake never really recovered from the loss of Marsden the Moody/Marsden duo had a huge part in both the sound and the onstage entertainment early Whitesnake provided(best live band around during this period of time IMHO) after Bernies departure for me at least Whitesnake seemed less of a band and more of a DC solo project.I loved DP MK3 and thought DC and GH were superb in the band apart of course from doing MK2 material and GHs whooping which was annoying but how could the band be anything but superb with RB,JL and IP in their prime

I think they fully recovered from my favorites Marsden and Moody, monetarily only, that is. emoticon emoticon emoticon

But anyway, they still had some glorious moments with Sykes and Galley, especially on tour, and bootleg DVD from Sweden is an excellent testament of Galley's contribution to WS, he shined on that tour.
(thanks to snakehead for that one, or I would probably never discovered what I was missing all these years)

Not sure if it's going around in full, but it can be found in parts of compilations.
Thats all I can remember about it at the moment, I have so many bootlegs it gets tough to recall, so I'll check for you when I get the time, and let you know exactly which it is.
It was at a casino, Coverdale classically mentoned at the start of the show, something like... "nice to be here in Vegas." emoticon

Thanks Gillans micstand ,I do have a short (15min) clip of Whitesnake in a club/casino in Sweden where DC opens with "good evening Las Vegas!"but there is no Mel Galley the line up is DC,JL,Cozy,Murray and Sykes im sure this is JLs last show before the Purple reunion songs played are Gambler, guilty of love, love aint no stranger and ready an willing ,up to now the only Mel Galley video with Whitesnake i have seen is the Donington 83 VHS where he plays fine but its not the best Whitesnake performance most songs seem to be played a little too fast and I never thought Cozy was the right drummer for early Whitesnake(not enough feel) but he certainly would have suited the more powerful later versions of the band

Pretty sure you have an edge over me when it comes to WS footage knowledge... it was Lord's last show with them though, I know that much.
It must be Sykes I should be raving about on that one... great gig it was!

But now I'm stuck with this, as I'm not sure which gig I have where Galley was all over the place with what was certainly an oustanding performance by him, either way, I agree with Coverdale that he was excellent in WS.
I went on a WS collecting roll during their last bit of touring and I'm happy with all of the material, but stopped after that because it's a lot of stuff to pick and choose from, causing a risk for me, because I'm only after stuff I consider to be top shelf, so I slowed down.(you never know if the gig is going to high standard, most traders son't go into detail so it's a gamble)

To take it slightly off topic, one of my favorite WS ahows is Wolverhapmton 2006, OMG, if only I had a better quality DVD of that show... even though it was filmed from the side of the stage, it was one hot performance, they were on fire, big time, but the DVD is mpeg2 format, at least mine is.
