Re: Entire album available for streaming

Just listened to it.

Very big production sound wise.

Mixed emotions about it: much of it is a wall of sound type affair which is a bit of a shame (I prefer a more open sound, with space...) I have a feeling it will be a grower though.

DC's voice sounds good throughout, but no standout vocal as such (such as a Still of the Night for instance).

The "blues" influence is muted and relegated to just one song, which is a shame. There is some nice slide though, although its very aggressive.

Needs a few more listens: my first thought is that it will get good reviews and probably do some decent business for the band.

To be brutally honest i skipped through most of the tracks and none held my interest for more than a minute or so. DCs voice in the ballads especially is disappointing i.e. very dry sounding and without the depth and resonance of yesteryear . The second half of the album 6-11 sounds better than the rest. The general feel i get is DC singing over some metallic backing tracks not the feel of a band who know each other back to front. A bit of a dud to be honest...sorry DC.

On first and a half listens, I really like it actually. Ballads are a bit boring but theyre kept to a minimum which is great! Riff on Call on Me is a bit of a mammoth. Gonna listen more and give a proper review.

I have to say that, after having a quick run through the tracks last night, my initial impressions were favourable. Sure, the guitars were more "1987" then "Ready an Willing", but that was always going to be the case. I was seriously concerned about how DC's vocals would sound on record after some frankly dodgy live performances in recent years, but again, I think he sounds pretty good for a guy of 56 years old! The main plus for me was that even the rockier tracks sounded fairly melodic. I'll reserve further judgement till I've listened to it all again!

I didn't listen. It was also played on the web at www.ARFM.co.uk according to someone at Whitesnake's BBS. They claimed to have had half a million hits in a short period of time.

Anyway, here's my question. Did Frazier make a big improvement over Aldridge, or can you not tell the difference?

I managed to grab 3 or 4 tracks before the link went down. First thoughts are that the band sound immense, and DC is in good vocal form. Need to give it a few more listens to get a better impression of the actual songs.

The drums, on the whole, sounded very heavy, unsubtle even. However, on Lay Down Your Love they were more Paice like, (as in Paice during early WS) I reckon. Now the link is gone it's a waitin' game again.
