Re: Red Rocks show cancelled after 4 songs!!
Jeez- this is a real shame- especially for those in the US who have not seen much of WS to date. As much as I have been pressing for DC to stop doing this (because of the current state of his voice), this is still very sad to read. If this is the end of WS as we know it, what a sad way to go.

But maybe it leads to something good in that DC realises his limitations, adapts to them and finds a new format?

Well, I hope this is the end of the latest Whitesnake experiment, although this is not a good way to finish. The future will be interesting indeed and I wish him well.

Let's hope so. Surely this will result in DC re-evaluating his future. I think he took stock after last years tour- the criticism over "mouthing" the words and the general state of his voice- with the result being that he re-jigged the setlist and brought the key of the songs down a little. I think many of us thought that the earlier performances this year were much improved from last year.
However this has to be the reality check. There is no shame in admitting that at nearly 58 years old, you can't scream like that night after night for any extended period of time.

Re: Red Rocks show cancelled after 4 songs!!
Maybe that acoustic tour isn't such a bad idea after all.
I have a release from Glenn Hughes where he performs "You Keep on moving" with an acoustic guitar, and it was pretty good.
Ritchie does acoustic all the time.
I guess David can do the same. I don't want to see his voice gone forever due to the stress of singing heavy metal all the time.
It's time to save what he's got left !

Re: Red Rocks show cancelled after 4 songs!!
The other suggestion might be that if David wants to continue to perform hard rock/heavy metal, then maybe he should do only exclusive shows over a period of a few days, and then stop.
For example, he schedules three exclusive shows. One or two in New York, and one in Atlantic City. Then he takes a break for about a month.
Then, he does three shows in California and Las Vegas. Then he takes a break for about a months.
No more constant touring, even if it is only for about 6 months at a time.
He has to do a show, and then relax his voice, let it heal.
Maybe the Ritchie Blackmore way of only doing a handful of dates at a time is the best for Coverdale with his voice situation.

I think I have to take a Zanex after witnessing that last night. Discouraging. The look on DC's face was one of utter and complete....defeat.
He was a beaten man

God....reminds me of descriptions of Jim Morrison's last show in New Orleans. I'm so sad to hear about it. For me David still had the same charisma and magic last week...in Costa Mesa, even if he was vocally limited, I still enjoyed the show.

There are always two sides to the coin, and something that might seem bad at the beginning might end up being a good thing in the end.
I hope DC will get better, and that he will adapt his music style to his voice.
I saw him in Brussels a couple of months ago, and he was brilliant!
First SPV going brankrupt and now his voice...Yes, maybe it's time for a change.

Love obviously.
