Kramer was booked to produce Slide It In. He produced the first single Guilty of Love and Gambler but was then sacked by DC for a variety of reasons. DC didn't like the way he worked (apparently a bit at a time and very disjointed). I happen to think those first mixes were very good... a brighter sound for the band. A shame they weren't on the re-release.
I didn't know there was bad blood as such. I understand that when DC called in Birch to salvage the project, Mr Birch benefitted quite a bit from the deal... perhaps this is why the new age DC remains so, er, angry about Kramer.

Well....Kramer's producing style can be quite infuriating if you're an established artists. Kramer is/was excruciatingly slow. Even Jimmy Page grew tired of it when he mixed parts of Zeppelin 2.
