Re: what next...

I honestly think DC will be touring Europe/Japan next year for at least three months. I think the band may change but it will still include Doug. I think he will want to "prove" he still has the chops. That might well be misplaced but when someone has an ego... it needs feeding!

A new album will follow in 2011, don't know on what label but won't be surprised if it's SPV (They may have gone bust but they will continue and WS are contracted to them so the Administrator will see them as an asset).

I think Doug is very much a driving force in the band, I'm sure he carries a certain amount of sway with DC, which is why we've seen "Ain't Gonna Cry No More" etc on recent tours.

I guess we'll see...

Doug says this on his forum:

"..David and I started playing some new ideas on the last tour and I am very happy at home
working on those..."

Why do you think he will change the line up?

I'm being a bit devil's advocatish here. DC hasn't had a great year with the JP tour coming to such an end. Whitesnake is now on hiatus, partly due to SPV, partkly due to throat problems and it seems to me that the band is pretty much interchangeable with the exception of Doug who has developed a writing relationship with DC. If the next step features an acoustic based I'd bet good money on a different band being used to convey it...

Plus of course, David has never been one for keeping things the same for too long.

"All the guys are busy with their other projects because at this time there are no immediate plans for touring as Whitesnake. I am delighted they have other avenues to fulfill them professionally. Right now, I am also very happy to be taking it easy at home & considering potential new projects as I have mentioned on here recently. I’m writing new songs, with no pressure, & enjoying archiving tons of audio & video material that has been stuck, gathering dust & Lawd knows wot, in boxes in various storage facilities. Of course, the band & I stay in touch to make sure nothing interferes with Snake activities...This approach has worked out pretty well for us so far."

Compare this to someone like Glenn Hughes who really seems to have a need for creating new music. And with a (much) smaller fanbase than WS, I don't think he's doing it for the money.

Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if Glenn's fanbase was bigger these days than Whitesnake's. I've been to a couple of Glenn's shows in recent years and believe me, the audience grew much larger. And of course, the singer could sing emoticon

Oh no, not by a long shot (with all due respect).

I guess it depends where you live. Glenn's fanbase is certainly growing, but in Europe Whitesnake headlines big sporthall's / ice-hockey arenas while Glenn plays in clubs.

In which areas would Glenn be the bigger act?
