Will Coverdale top the charts? No 6 and climbing
Whitesnake's record label hoped for a top forty UK placing for 'Good To Be Bad', but the album quickly went to number 6 and is selling so well that they think it will be a number one album very shortly. This would make it the first album chart topper for any Deep Purple related act for so long we can't remember (stats keepers help us out!). You have to hand it to DC for sticking with it.
The vinyl edition is close to selling out. All DPAS vinyl pre-orders have been guaranteed a copy and dpas mailorder are due another shipment next week. Pre-orders for ALL formats will ship Monday.

Well, I guess Purps can stick their Rapture... Coverdale rules again!

Which chart is this? It's not in the BBC Top 40:

The new album is pure 80's hair metal. Have you no shame, David Coverdale?

It is very similar to 1987, but ashamed? Why be ashamed of a job well-done?
I say: three thumbs up for the new Whitesnake!!!

Re: Will Coverdale top the charts? No 6 and climbing
I think it's normal that David Coverdale is still aknowledged in the charts: he's an institution in rock'n'roll. See here , his appearance on British TV in a wide public programme.
I think maybe people are gettin' sick of bad or fake music and want to get back to real. Of course, that means some compromise for die-hard-rock fans (the current Deep Purple gig's set list, for instance), but all in all, it's a real good news that real rock'n'roll is considered as such.
OK, maybe I'm too optimistic...

Have you even heard the album?Yes there are obvious influences from the 87 album but there are also bluesier touches from the older Snakes era it is IMHO a very fine and enjoyable upbeat and fun album and Whitesnakes best effort since slide it in

I like the coversleeve. And I got the special edition CD @ 9.99 US$ on Amazon.com. Hard to be disappointed...

Yes, I've listened to the new Whitesnake CD twice including the bonus tracks. I've always considered Whitesnake to be the black sheep of the purple family. None of their albums are worthy of comparison to Rainbow Rising, Warhorse I or Gillan's Mr Universe. I've never enjoyed listening to self-degrading ballads and songs without solos.
