NHL Playoffs

I love this time of year. Talk about potatoe coach syndrome!

I think the East is predictable. Montreal, Washington, Pittsburgh, and Im going with the Rangers but that one is a toss up. If the Rangers win they be the sleeper to go to the Cup.

The West seems a little more complicated but here is how I see it. Anaheim, San Jose, Detroit, and Colorado.

Rezi,

Here is yours from the ice hockey topic:

NHL Play-offs, 1st Round. My guesses for series winners in bold.

Eastern Conference:

Montreal (1.) - Boston (8.)
Pittsburgh (2.) - Ottawa (7.)
Washington (3.) - Philadelphia (6.)
New Jersey (4.) - NY Rangers (5.)

Western Conference:

Detroit (1.) - Nashville (8.)
San Jose (2.) - Calgary (7.)
Minnesota (3.) - Colorado (6.)
Anaheim (4.) - Dallas (5.)

I believe Kipper will frustrate the Sharks. He has gotten a lot of stick from Keenan and wants Keenan to shut up!

It'll be intersting to see how the NJ-NYR series goes. I'm quite certain Devils will smack the collective Rangers bottom but when you got players like Jagr there anything can happen.

In a way the Montreal-Boston one is the easiest to predict but there lies the danger for Montreal. Needless to say Montreal needs to win the first game, preferably by a couple of goals.

My Bruins haven't beaten Montreal yet this year-however, Thursday night ,we'll steal one against the Habs.Unfortunately,it probably will be our only post-season victory! My picks for the Cup final are Pittsburgh against San Jose-with big Joe getting his 1st Cup victory and Conn Smythe to boot!!CHEERS

It's actually been 11 or 12 games since the Bruins have beaten my hometown Canadans, going back to last year. It should be a good series though.

Spills, what's your take on Price? Will he be the hero the media has hyped?

The media hype is not for no reason. This guy is an incredible goalie. I'm interested to see how he'll play in the playoffs, but I don't think it will affect him. This guy is calm and cool and I don't think the pressure will get to him.

GO HABS!

As for the west, call me crazy, but I see Colorado surprising some people and maybe even getting to the cup finals.

Avs might well return to the top where they were for a decade. I think Minnesota are, however, within an ace to become one of the top teams in the league. Lemaire is the best coach, hell, probably ever and the team is full of very good players. The lack a bit of toughness, and perhaps one 30-goal scorer. But really, why Lemaire keeps Nummelin on the bench? The guy is the best, or at least one of the very best, in the world at what he does as a playmaking defenceman and a power play specialist.

I'm a bit torn concerning what I hope for in the East. I've been a Devils fan since early 1990s, with Montreal following closely as the second club I have a very soft spot for ('my' team is TPS, Finland). Now Montreal has a real chance of success and I do hope they'd win the Cup - but at the same time, I'm of course always supporting NJ. The point is Devils have a chance of success almost every year (thanks to the genius of Lamariello and the club's tradition of winning) while Montreal has been struggling. Well, we'll see.
