Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy Bootleg

A friend of mine sent me some songs that are apparently going to feature on the 13-years-in-the-making-still-to-be-released Chinese Democracy by Guns N' Roses. The songs included were:

1. Better
2. The Blues
3. Chinese Democracy
4. Catcher In The Rye
5. IRS
6. Magagascar
7. Oh My God
8. There Was A Time

Overall, I am seriously impressed. Some of the songs sound really dark and have a good vibe to them. IRS is particuarly cool with Axl screaming his arse off throughout - excellent stuff! Chinese Democracy and Better are also good songs whilst The Blues and Catcher In The Rye complete the ballads section.

Oh My God was released a few years ago on the End Of Days soundtrack has a very industrial sound to it. Personally, I like it but I know a lot people didn't at the time.

TWAT or There Was Another Time is also a pretty fine tune with Axl again sounding good. Loads of keyboards add to the dark sound.

So far so good - I'm liking it! However, I think I may have to enter my 30's before the album is finally released!

It's not really Guns N' Roses now.. is it.
Axl Rose solo more like it...

I wouldn't dare to post such a comment on the DEEP PURPLE website...

I have a hunch that Chinese Democracy will never see the light of day.Scott Weiland has reformed Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver is without a frontman. If ever there was a time for a full-fledged G'n'R reunion,it's right know.Imagine the money being offered to these has-beens for a worldwide tour?!?!Axl will find a way to f.u.c.k. it all up,however. emoticon CHEERS

I've seen a couple of clips on youtube, and it was pure crap. I hope that the album never sees the light of day, and it's NOT a Guns recording. It's Axl Rose solo!

Let's hope he gets his act together and reform the real Guns'n'Roses...so he can f..k it all up again emoticon

There ain´t gonna be a real Guns n´Roses reunion! Why? Izzy/Jeff Isabelle (the main songwriter back in the day) won´t be up for it, or will leave when the madness begins which will happen immediatly.

Rose is ill. That´s the main reason Chinese Democrazy (the best title for "a band goes solo artist"-album ever?) hasn´t been released... yet. Give him a break. I´ve heard one bootleg song and it was good. Nothing spectacular.

Sebastian Bach in Velvet Revolver? It probably wont save the band. Velver Revolver never were that great, IMO. The great songs/hooks/riffs are missing, which again goes to show that the main songwriting talent in G n´R was Stradlin´ and to some extent Rose. Not to take anything away from McKagen and Slash, or Adler, Clarke or the drummer what´s his name. Great musicians all of them.

I like Izzy Stradlin,he's probably my fav G'n'R alumni, but to call him the main songwriter does a disservice to the other guys, mainly Duff and Slash, both of whom contributed quite a bit to Apettite For Destruction. All subsequent releases suffered from a lack of focus and band vision(i.e.-drugs,drink and monsterous ego and personnel issues)as well as the fact that their debut had songs they had written, honed and performed for the better part of three years before their major label effort. In other words,in my opinion, they blew their creative load, for lack of a better analogy,on the first release and the band had next to nothing for that piece of s.h.i.t. double album and their follow-up stinker"covers"disgrace of an album. I tend to agree with you about the realistic chances of a full-flegded G'n'R reunion-their original drummer,Steven Adler,is a shell of his former self(cocaine-induced stroke),Izzy has struggled for the better part of twenty-five years with an opiate-addiction and Axl truly has mental issues.Duff,Sorum and Slash haven't exactly been choir boys during their careers either! emoticon CHEERS

Well, I wouldn´t say that. Pretend that the follow up single album "Use your illusion" would look something like this, and it would be another classic rock album (like Appetite...):

Civil war
You could be mine
Right next door to hell
Dust n´bones
November rain

Double talkin´jive
Perfect crime
Don´t cry
Dead horse
Coma

Appetite... is a classic album for sure. But that track listing would be a classic album? No way. Not a bad album at all, but certainly not a classic either.

Maybe calling it a s.h.i.t. album was a bit strong but I tend to agree with Rezi here-it would have been a fine single album(Use Your Illusion, that is)but not the timeless classic that Appetite is.That album captures and defines the mid to late 80's hard rock sound just prior to the scene becoming completely saturated with posers and men in drag. What a debut!!CHEERS
