Football (soccer)
Been ages since we had a football topic!
I've been avoiding writing football topics for ages because Newcastle were just appalling.
But after our first decent fortnight of the season, I felt I could raise my head out of the sand again!
Geat results against Chelsea and Liverpool, and in two cup competitions. This is the first time we have ever been in two cup competitions by March in our whole history!!
So how are your teams doing? Meeting expectations?

Re: Football (soccer)
Being a fun of olympiakos I just hope you'll have bad results in U.E.F.A cup.
To be honest though I'll be more interested to watch the games in the champion's league. I'll be very keen to see Arsenal take it's way home once again.
I also hope that we'll at last see some good football (euro 2004 sucked in terms of football but it doesn't mind as long as we got it!!!)

Re: Football (soccer)
gooner here.....i am anticipating bayern putting us out of europe tommorrow and bolton putting us out of the cup....for me the best game i have seen all season was last weeks cup game to sheffield utd... we were bloody lucky and i have to say hats off to sheffield for making a cracking game of it...wenger needs to sort it out big style ..ther is only one answer buy some bloody englishmen and get an english heart to an english team...we need wright phillips and steven gerrard...ledley king would be a steal...and for a keeper? well sheffields kenny has shown us what a superb keeper he is in recent seasons up front a proper english striker in the mould of shearer or alan smith...

How ironic. Up here in Newcastle, we say we'd love a striker like Thierry Henry!

Only a fan when you'e winning, huh?
I'm sorry I haven't followed Newcastle too closely myself lately. My (old) hometown's team, Fredrikstad FK, did more than good last year, and occupied my footballinterest completely. They had made it for the top league for the first time in 20 years (I remember well, they won the norwegian cup and fall out of top league the same season) As a newcomer everybody said this was bound to go to hell, and after 16 (of 26) matches it seemes rather dark. But I kept hope, said they will make it to 10th place!! (outta 14, 12 survives). From then on, the last 10 matches they were the 2nd best team, won home and away, and secured top league two matches before season ended.
(and they made it to 10th place as well )
Sometimes football is true happiness!

You should have seen my rant on these boards earlier in the season. I didn't think I could add anymore to that until things started changing!
