Your Favourite Films

It's been ages since we last had a film poll of any sort. I decided to go with an obvious one. Nothing serious, just curious to see what kind of films people like.

Here's my top ten, without thinking too much.

The Mummy (Terence Fisher, 1959)
The Black Hole (Gary Nelson 1979)
The Loveless (Kathryn Bigelow & Monty Montgomery 1982)
The Bicycle Thief (Vittorio de Sica 1948)
Blue Velvet (David Lynch 1986)
Slap Shot (Gerorge Roy Hill 1977)
Downfall (Oliver Hirscbiegel 2004)
The Shining (Stanley Kubrick (1980)
Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola 1979)
Top Secret! (Zucker&Abrahams&Zucker 1984)

Hmm, let me see. Not in any real order:

The Shawshank Redemption
The Usual Suspects
L.A. Confidential
Master & Commander
The Long Goodbye
Office Space
Cross of Iron
The Big Lebowski
Children of Men
Chinatown

What's common with all these films is that they've got chills running down my spine, from different reasons. And yet I there would be many more films to add to this list.

EDIT: I really forgot a great one so I'll add it as an 11nth to my list:
Sleuth (the original version)

I remember going to the flicks many, many years ago, and that scene where Sellers is a beat cop in Paris, and he acknowledges a girl by saluting her - but he smacks himself in the eye with a truncheon. I was in tears, it was so funny. I think it was the start of the film, and it still makes me fall about now, just thinking about it.

Daft, eh!
