I assume that most of us have a deeper insight in DP's music than the persons who compile those "Best Of" collections, so I think the most consistent decision would be that everyone of us puts together his own "Best Of" collection.
For nostalgia reasons, I'd go for Deepest Purple on CD. It was the first pre-reunion DP title which was issued on CD (in 1986 or '87) and so the first one I bought on CD. Another fascinating discovery was the "Anthology" double LP with many songs I handn't heard at the time - and with liner notes which encouraged me to buy Chris Charlesworth's "Illustrated Biography" which has long been deleted now.
