Put all the same to Blackmore,and it's not funny either,but it's true...
I seriously doubt Gillan does anymore drinking than Blackmore,they just have different drinking schedules...Blackmore before a show,and Gillan after...not once have I seen what I'd call a drunken performance from Gillan...Blackmore on the other hand...if he's half way thru the bottle,it doesn't matter if you can notice or not,there is no way it can't effect him.
And it could have alot to do with his stage mood as well...before and after a show,anybody ever think of that?
People act like just because Blackmore complained a few times about Gillan drinking,that that must be what he has for breakfast,lunch and dinner,and anyone ever think about how much more you can generally put away without much notice,when you're a much bigger,stronger man than a rake????

In person that is John...but I'd say although he appeared to be lit at the start of that show,the vocals that Blackmore demanded him to sing...would sober anyone up,awfull fast.
