Hey Eric Banadinovich
whats with changing your last name not proud of your croation heritage. John Malkovich never changed it . I lost 50% respect of you since i read that you changed it. i think your one of the best actors out there still. but i wont forget the name change pal

Re: Hey Eric Banadinovich
That is a really silly thing to say.
He hasn't changed his name at all. He has just shortened it, probably so people can pronounce it.
His surname is no secret, everyone knows. And he most certainly is proud of his Croation/German heritage, it's a well known fact. He often speaks of it.

Re: Hey Eric Banadinovich
my full name is
Camilla Lois Auchterlounie
now the Auchterlounie bit is Scotish/German
i am proud of my name and Eric is proud of his. Why would anyone not like their name it is ridculous. If i had to shorten my name it would be
Camilla Auch. . .I think the long name is better and i sometimes still call Eric by Banadinovich

Re: Hey Eric Banadinovich
Do you think Eric will read that? Sorry but I guess you'd experience a disappointment with this.
What if a women marries and takes her husbands surname? Does that mean they aren't proud of their heritage? What's in a name?

Re: Hey Eric Banadinovich
I totally agree with you babila. This is a weird post. I mean, the man has the right to do what he wants with his name. Oh well.

Re: Hey Eric Banadinovich
Eric Bana is a stage name. Actors have always had those - look at Marilyn Monroe - did you think that was her real name? Authors and even athletes use them sometimes too. (For that matter do you really think the screen names we go by on the internet are what our parents named us?) Its less about ethnicity and more about an easy sound that audiences are going to remember. Not to mention privacy. I can tell you that he races under his full name, at least that's how he's listed in the Targa program. If I was making a guess I would say Bana is the face he shows the world at large and Banadinovich is the name his friends and family know him by.
That said, I don't believe EB's a member of this board (one can only imagine how many grey hairs we would have given him over the years with some of our commets if he was ). If it bothers you so much perhaps you could write a polite letter to his agent and ask about it. If you got an answer it would definately settle the question for you.

Re: Hey Eric Banadinovich
Ahhh that's how he got the salt and peper in his dark locks
Thats so true Kit.
I reckon he's grown up with people pronouncing it the wrong way. I've never heard it spoken, I think I know what it should sound like, but would probably get it wrong if I had to read it aloud.
But I've noticed when he's on US TV shows, the hosts often pronounce Bana wrong.
They say Barna, we say Banna.
Hey, isn't that a song??

You say 'toe-may-toe', I say 'toe-mah-toe, You say 'po-tay-toe', I say 'po-tah-toe', 'Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe, po-tay-toe, po-tah-toe', let's call the whole thing off!
