Re: The Time Traveler´s Wife Yes Olympias, I was also a little surprised(understatement) that some thought soooo highly about TOBG - I thought the script caputered the essence of the book very well -Imo it is a sexy romantic history novel - albeit a wellwritten one! A fun read quite simply.
When I was 15 and in bed with the flu I read "Gone with the Wind" for the first time. My grandmother loooooved both the book and Clark Gable and highly recommended it. I read for 24 hours crying my little heart out and litterally the flu too When Clark.. ehh Rhett said:Frankly my dear, I don´t give a damn" and went away from Scarlett oyyyyyy. GWTW is imo still THE best melodrama ever written in the western world! And I still have a very soft spot in my heart for this book! - So I suppose if you read a book at THE right moment in your life even the most sentimental of books will be the second coming and forever stay in your heart
I liked both Niffeneggers TTTW and Nicole Krauss´ THOL - Imo Krauss style of writing is perhaps more minimalistic... will be very interesting to hear what you think about TTTW. Among my friends some who love THOL can´t understand all the fuss about TTTW and vice versa so....maybe Krauss speaks more to people born in the seventies and Niffenegger to those born in the sixties....
Wow now I must reread both these books ASAP!
Re: The Time Traveler´s Wife Hmm, a movie about time travel that has Eric in it...This will be my husband's dilema! He loves the idea of time travel & time travel movies, but he wants to 'Ban the Bana'! So maybe this will help change his mind!
Re: The Time Traveler´s Wife Okay, I have been reading the book TTTW for a week now. When I first started it, I thought I wasn't going to get through it - but then I decided to read it in a lickety split way - and can't wait to get back to it each evening.
Re: The Time Traveler´s Wife Hi guys,
I also started reading the Time Traveler's Wife this past weekend and couldn't get into it at first (finding the jumping narrative and split narrators very jarring at first, and slightly annoying). But, it's incredible and I canh't put it down. I estimate a couple of more days and I should be done and I highly recommend it. I wonder how it will translate onscreen.
