Re: BHD - Disc 2

I think the scenes you are referring to are the extended ones from Disc two, right?
The one where he's lying on the bed with his shirt off (Nice!!) is just about the guys hanging out and talking a bit..nothing important, but cute. There's also some behind the scenes stuff with the weapons training and the Delta- stuff...he talks about how it was a lot of fun and also how it was really tough. the usual stuff i guess. If you want to, i can be more specific, but i'll have to watch it again then, because i haven't seen it in awhile...not that i would mind though..*lol*

Girls! I must share it. I'm deadly dissappointed with BHD! What was it? I'm deaf and sick of all that action. Ridley, what have you done! After "Bladerunner", "Thelma and Loise" to make such movie! Yes, bloody body parts were very realistic. And nothing else. No real drama as in "Platoon" or "Apocalipse now". I'm sorry about those killed guys, as it's based on a true story. But everything looked so unnatural! No good acting, no expressive charackters! And the only tiny ray of light - Eric. But his hero also looked so unsufficient - justs some general significant phrases... I'm down! I'm only grateful for Scott, that he discovered for the world Brad Pitt about 15 years ago, and now it seems, the time for Bana has come. Don't blame me, I'm angry!

Bananna, I didn't like BHD either.
I can't see a real plot in there, it is just shooting and stuff.
After it was over I was like "well, that was it?"

This is the only film of Eric I'm not gonna buy on DVD.

You were lucky not to bye it. No luck for me - I've bought an expensive licensed one to enjoy it. And I could bought a pirate copy hugely cheaper. Imagine my feelings! Sometimes Banatism playes such jokes! Can't find whom I could present it...

I'm sorry you didn't like it, girls. Black Hawk Down really made an impression on me, film, music and book. Read the book after seeing the film and I think Ridley Scott has succeeded in telling the stories of those involved in the fighting...Apart from the story I think the film was beautiful albeit not in the traditional aesthetic sense. Beautiful but horrid...

Have even pre-ordered the 3 disc version due july...

I'm sorry, too, Candy. But sometimes I need something more than just action. So many good actors there and nothing to play for them. My bad English doesn't let me to speak out my feelings properly. Well, it seemd to me that Scott and Bruckheimer sat together in a bar and talked how'd be nice to make the next GREAT PATRIOTIC MOVIE. The war is a horrible thing, russians know it for sure. And I saw a lot of great movies about the war, about different wars. I'll always respect Stone for his "Platoon" and many other outstanding directors, russian as well, who made really heartbreaking, unforgettable movies dedicated to war. What could I add?.. If I were 18, maybe it'll work, but I'm almost twice older now...

I definitely see both views. The first time I saw the movie, I just shrugged. As a movie itself, I remember thinking that the music and cinematography were great, but at that time it was just another action-packed blockbuster. And then my sister made me read the book itself, and after reading it, the movie just wasn't the same... I saw a lot more meaning within each character (and it took me like 238343 more times until I finally figured out each character in the movie!). BHD has become one of my favorite films.

But I agree, if it weren't for the book, I don't think I would have thought twice about the movie.

Ann, what other war films do you recommend? I haven't seen many at all, shame on me.

Steph, let me think about the list of worthy war-movies. As for a book, even if it's a good one, Scott wasn't succeed to make the charackters expressive. See you all tomorrow, good night.
