Young men of Arab descent retaliated in several Sydney suburbs, fighting with police and smashing 40 cars with sticks and bats, police said. Thirty-one people were injured and 16 were arrested in hours of violence Sunday.
The city was calm Monday, and police formed a strike force to track down the instigators, some of whom were believed to be from white supremacist groups...
My heart goes out to any folks that were hurt...

Sydney has had a few riots in recent times,
usually it's Aborigines v's the police.
But this was the biggest and most shocking.
What happend was, There was a lot of
concern about Asian gangs bashing people
for no reason on the beach and in the
streets and many people were scared to go
out. So a chain text message was sent
around for all local Aussies to meet on the
beach on a certian day and claim it back. A
huge crowd gathered and some Asian people,
who just happend to be there and had
nothing to do with gangs, got beaten up.
It was a terrible thing to happen, but I
hope it scares off the gangs for a while.
