Yes, yes it is, and thank you for reminding me of that, Babila! You're in Milan, right? I think you and I may have the same sort of climate, hot & dry in the summer & cold & wet in the winter!

Re: Holidays from Your Country

Next week is 'Carnaval' (= Carnival) in Brazil.

From this Saturday to Wednesday noon, we have this great, beautiful and full of diversity national holiday.

It's celebrated all over the country. Five days of music, costumes, dancing and drinking make this party famous worldwide. It is really funny.

For me (as for many Brazilians) it a excellent oportunity to take a few days off, travelling to quieter places.

So, talk to you soon! Image

Oh, I've asked it to you on the chat thread.
Thanks for the info.

Do you really prefer travelling abroad than celebrating the Carnival??

Hi, dear babila.

Well, it depends. When you are a working mom with a small child, sometimes all you need (and want) is to get some rest in a different place. emoticon

But I stayed in Brazil. We visit my father-in-law who lives in Curitiba, a city in southern Brazil. It was funny. I think half of its population went to the beach during Carnaval holidays so we had VERY calm vacations. emoticon

Thanks emoticon

In two months, she will be 4 years old.

Ok, my opinion probably doesn't count, but she is a very sweet girl!...and full of energy as well.

Sometimes too much energy for me to handle Image

Precious! emoticon My son will be five this month, the 27th, he's so smart and articulate, loves basketball, can actually make a shot on a regulation hoop which is pretty high since he's not even 4 feet tall yet! emoticon

..time to promote my little country^^..

.let's see:

Shmigus Dingus Day - on the Monday after Easter Sunday, is a holiday where the children will have water fights and occasionally adults will participate in the festivities but only in the morning emoticon

Fat Thursday - on the last Thursday before Lent - you can say goodbye to your diet^^..

All Saints' Day - which is also called 'Dziady' (an ancient Slavic feast) (in U.S. it's Halloween?)

..and many Christian Holidays and National such as: National 3rd of May Holiday (Constitution Day)..

.one thing: in Poland we don't have turkey on Christmas.. .we got 12 different dishes:

- boiled dough pockets filled with meat, cheese or fruit
- carp
- gingerbread
- poppy seed strudel
- Polish dish made of sauerkraut (bigos - and acctually it's not our national dish - it's from Hungary or Slovakia)

..on table, under christmas tablecloth we put hay and we always leave one covering for unexpected guest emoticon.. .

..I think that's all emoticon
