THE star of the movie Troy came face-to-face with a real Troy at Phillip Island yesterday.

Actor Eric Bana met Australian racer Troy Bayliss and was allowed a close look at his red Ducati race bike in the pit garage.
Bana was one of several celebrities who mingled with bikers at the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. Cathy Freeman and Peter Brock also walked pit lane meeting the two-wheeled stars.

Bana, who has been at home in Australia since he finished filming Troy , rode his own Ducati on the track and wore a black Ducati leather jacket, and black sun-glasses.

"I love Ducatis," Bana said.
"I went through the factory last year near Bologna and that was just fantastic."

Bana has a large collection of motorbikes, which he rides on the road and the race-track, including several Ducatis.

"I have a fair few bikes," he said.

"I guess you could say I have one fewer than too many."
