My husband hates our ferret
My husband begged me for a ferret 6 months ago to the point of insanity.
Well,I gave in and we now have a very sweet,playful 10 month old male ferret that I adore.
Sadly,my husband became frustrated with him shortly after we got him and now is wanting to get rid of him.(he has never had a ferret before)
His main issues are that the ferret gets into all his stuff,poops any where he pleases when not in his cage,and chews up his computer cables (he has alot of electronics and computer stuff)
We have tried many techniques to change this,but the best policy has been to not let our ferret out of his cage till he poops and watch him to make sure he doesnt chew on things.Bitter sprays dont work on him,and he wont use a litter box outside of the cage.
Other than that he is great ferret-sweet,does not bite,playful,and so cute!
Unfortuately,my husband is at wits end now with any bad behaviour and I feel like he is WAY to rough when punishing our ferret.
He picks him up and scruffs him harshly and then will literally toss him into the cage and slam the door shut.I have told him its too mean and that he is hurting the ferret (I have heard our ferret 'yelp' several times when picked up harshly) and it upsets me greatly.
He even told me he 'hates the retarded rat' and tells me all the time about how he cant wait to get rid of him
:-(
I am tired of fighting about it and am at the point that I feel its best to sell our ferret-if nothing else-to keep my husband from eventually turning this sweet animal unfriendly from harsh treatment.
Does anyone have any ideas? I love this little guy but I want to do whats best-

Sorry to hear of your problem. After reading what you have written I would say the choose is yours. The ferret goes or your husband goes, because when I scriff ours when she has bitten I have never heard her yelp at all. Obvious your right in thinking that your husband is over doing it. Regarding the toilet issue again I have found my ferret poops in usually the same place. I tend to put news paper down so she can go there. Hope this helps.
