Re: The saga in the barn After ferreting about under the bug the other evening, don't you just love these lighter nights . I have decided that the body is coming back off to do further restoration work.
I can't see the point of spoiling the ship for a hap'porth of tar. Also the front clip has got damaged, by Mr Nobody it seems
Also Alex has inspired me to heights previously unthought of. It wasn't going to be on the road this year anyway, so if a job's worth doing..... the body's coming back off and the shell will be properly rust proofed, and a new front clip.
Re: The saga in the barn This bug is a bog standard 1200 1968 basic beetle (basic even for a beetle) minimal chrome trim, ventless bonnet, no horn grills etc etc.
Is it particularly unusual, as I see that others for sale etc are specifically referred to as 1968 1200......
Re: The saga in the barn has it got a sunvisor on only the drivers side and a courtesty light switch on only the drivers door also - if so it is a standard 1200 rather than a deluxe - i had a 67 standard, even the indicator tops were painted silver rather than chromed & it still was 6v and had a floor mounted dipswitch even though it was an upright headlight 68 body style - had a sense of purity about it heres a pic

Can't remember about the sunvisor but has only one courtesy light switch and partial headlining...... and I must agree with the purity bit.
Re: The saga in the barn my 72 1200 was an L model, but it only had the basic headlining. At the time the interior light never worked! It was fitted with two sun visors, but that is where the luxury stopped
