1303 Big Beetle Bought this from Jon late last summer and towed it back home on the worst trailer ever. Buttock clenching stuff.....
Having dragged it back home and got it undercover I have started to decide how to restore it. It has rot in the usual places but all in all is not in that bad condition. The framehead is sound, even after a considerable amount of tw*tting this afternoon.
Basically it will eventually be finished in the special edition colour with the stripes and the wooden interior fittings, but with lowered uprated suspension and possibly larger similar style wheels. Seating will be mk2 GTi seats, possibly Scirocco Storm if I can find some when I have the cash.
Anyway, this is what she looks like at the moment
After a long period of nothing happening, other than choosing spares with my daughter and getting stuff sorted. I have lost all my cars apart from this one. The extremely valuable gearbox from my yellow Bug will be used in this one along with a spare engine I had, which now needs the tinware replacing as it has disappeared. I need to replace the spares I had for it, including the steering wheel and gear lever my daughter chose for it. It is now stored safely and will soon be moving to a new location where I can start replacing the floorpan with a spare one that didn't disappear etc etc.
Am thinking along the lines of a German Looker. Watch this space for developments, it will be slow at first but will soon start to happen, I have a deadline
Pics of it in its temporary storage location tomorrow when I get back home.
Re: 1303 Big Beetle As Graemes cars seem to be disappearing faster than a Lehmans investment we used his access last weekend to save what was left - the 1303 for his daughter has been moved to safe storage & we removed his 'chicken coop' 1303 as a donor car to try and replace some of the 'missing' parts
Its still sat on my trailer ready to go to the same secure storage as the 1303 - despite a quick jetwash it still stinks !!
Re: 1303 Big Beetle Heres a few pics of the Big 1303 safely stashed away from the 'Pikeys' so that it can be delivered to graeme as soon as he is ready for it
At least Graeme has one project to look forward too - and a worthwhile one at that
