Long Time Coming... My 66 Bus.
Well, I've had my 66 RHD bus since 1995. A mate of mine from London found it for me when I had just left University and had zero money. He swapped a bay for it and I ended up giving him about 150 quid for it and doing a favour...
It's been at various houses, a 'professional' VW resto place (crooks) and is currently in my garage now that I have one....
It's had all new doors, all new wheelarches, chassis repairs, new rear corners, new front panel, new screen (still to fit), peak replaced, entire new roof (to fit) and numerous repairs here and there. I've bare metalled the underside and the engine bay. I was going to fit Creative Engineering IRS, but have decided against it, as I don't like the wide track. So, I'm going straight axle instead (once I've welded the chassis legs back in - yes, I know....)
What I did at the weekend instead of going to Skeg...
Plans: Finish the welding, get it rolling on straight axle and 4" narrowed beam and discs and the Empis. Get the prep and paint done somewhere professionally and start the rebuild. Can't wait to actually drive it after all these years..

Re: Long Time Coming... My 66 Bus.
Thanks everyone!
RustyGT... Polished? Pah!! They're chrome!!
I've never felt like jacking it in. A Mate of mine imports rust free Cali buses all the time, but I've never been tempted to cheat on mine.
It had a Canterbury Pitt interior originally with the enormous pop top. I played with the idea of a rag top to fill the hole, but in the end I had the chance to get a solid roof that had been drilled off a 15 window, so I decided to go for it.
Took this one last night. I just like it for some reason. Shows just how low it is... I may have to go for T2D's slam tyres...

Oh, and I'd love to find the bloke who painted her the 'Elephant Foreskin' grey and kick him in the nuts.
