Well tonight started with stripping the 4 manky doors we currently have for the bug
Image

We though we may have a pair that may be salvageable -

Image

However on further investigation it seems we need to buy 2 new doors emoticon - best get flogging some more merchandise

Image

We at least have 2 door shells that are usable for alignment purposes whilst we build the shell up on the pan

Next job was to press the axle tubes apart so the retainers can join the zinc plate pile and the rest can be cleaned and painted

Image

Pressed apart ready gor the wire brush crew to do their job

Next we checked out the new genuine panels (apart from the bonnet) that arrived from Vw Heritage yesterday

Image

before getting the floorpan onto stands

Image

and dropping the body on for the first time in a while !

Image

Pan looks a bit better than it did last time the body was on it !!

Image

Image

Body was then finally stripped of any remaining bits - wiring loom, glovebox lid (very heavy - wont be going back on !! ) and basically anything that unbolted

Image

Quarter panel was windowed out to allow the foam to be dug away to release the loom - the quarter is being replaced anyway so this just made life easier !!

Once we had the body in place and stripped it was time to offer up one of the race seats to try for size - used our taller drivers

Image

and of couse you need to try a steering wheel emoticon

Image

Theres a good few inches of height to come out of there yet !!

Image

So now its sat on its pan - awaiting the arrival of one heater channel, a pair of Hookys door pillars, and a rear valance emoticon
They should all be inplace for next week & the body surgery can begin emoticon

Just like to add - Ash's provision of Mini Battenburgs was most appreciated, we seem to be having 'Issues' with our Donut sponsor at the moment emoticon

posticon Re: The JagerBug - Club Racecar

I am aware the donut donation has been slack, I was thinking I would have to take it of my signiture on here and VZi.

Normal service will be resumed next week.......With Paul being allowed out to play, as last night was my clubnight, ( we alternate usually) although I nearly popped in on my way home, but I only had jam tarts and mince pies in!
