The nice thing with the Chop on Dr Gonzo is that it doesnt scream choptop but looks awesome when someone is stood next to it - they manged to keep in in proportion - its a 3in drop with a rake towards the front by half an inch I think - Paul Bratley has the full details emoticon

This is the look we are after not too severe. I don't know what the others think but I'm not sure whether channeling really suits a drag car, I think it's a really cool look on kustoms though. Any assistance you could give when we get to cutting would be great. Do you have any in progress pics of your rod?

yeah, gonzo is a real nice chop, the less you
chop it,the easier it will be.
i`d be more than happy to help,i have a sh*t
load of photos of mine and johns chop that might help.with a small chop with a bit of rake,it might be easier to tilt the whole roof
forward on the rear firewall, then pie cut the pillars to suit, this way will save having to cut the roof into bits.
channeling would save messing around replacing heater channels and would lower the
body by about 3" but it would mean modifying
the front and rear inner wings to clear the suspension.raising the gearbox would help
on a race car too.

Yes my favourite chop by far, I se you have done your metalwork what are your plans for the difficult bit.
The glass, have you had any cut yet and where or attempted to fit any. We plan on making templates in the
in the predicted shape and making the metal fit. So
with luck reducing the aggro in the long term hopefully emoticon

Re: The JagerBug - Club Racecar

Well we started last night by chopping out the old rusty drivers side heater channel & the previously repaired door hinge panel
Image

Plasma romped through the rotten rusty metal

Image

Image

Graeme got to grips with the back end of the channel

Image

Then it was gone !

Looks pretty much knackered to me !!

Image

Big bit missing now !

Image

Graeme slots the new channel into place

Image

Nice new pillar courtesy of Hookys !

Image

Channel bolted into place with new stainless fixings

Image

Image

Paul bolts the rear seat area back in for reference (its all getting cut out and reaplaced with ally - once the shell is structrally sound)

Image

Starting to do the final cuts to fit the pillar in - thanks to Volkskraft for the loan of the door pillar alignment tool emoticon

Image

More Pics later - plenty more !! emoticon

i`ve not got the glass cut yet,but its just a
matter of making a temp and taking it and the
screen to the glaziers.making the temp
first is do-able but does`nt allow for any
unforseen probs.(bugs arn`t perfectly symetrical side for side).and you will need
a laminated screen, its difficult to cut toughened glass without it shattering, and
if you do, it will probs shatter when you try to put it in.
the side windows will need cutting before being toughened ,and unless you leave the rear window as stock,it will have to be perspex or lexan.
