onto the beam

with the 8 inches cut out (don't worry, the adjusters are 2 inches and are going back in so it's actually only a 6 inch chop) the beam was fastened into this jig

Image

you can't see it very well but there is a straight edge clamped to the rear to ensure it's all aligned correctly

Image

out comes the welder

a replacement shock tower will be fabricated in roughly this shape

Image

this area was primed ready for the new rear quarter to be welded in

Image

the dash is nearly stripped

Image

and yet more filling of one of the seats, the others still to be done!

1. - not too bad, we can check it on weds once you have fitted the top arms and spindles

2. - filling the factory speaker cutouts with ally - speedo area remains, glovebox swage gets extended to match up with left grille swage and a long ally panel cut to fit

posticon Re: The JagerBug - Club Racecar

Paul & I made a bit more progress last night

First we prepped the roop ready to take the new quarter

Image

Meanwhile I knocked up a repair section for the engine bay corner

Image

Paul Busily chopped all the remains of the old quarter out

Image

I butchered the top off the new genuine quarter !

Image

Then unpicked all the nastiness that was at the rear end of the gutter - couple of nasty repairs

Image

Quick repair primed up in weldable primer

Image

Prepped and ready to take the new quarter
