Alex continued to finish off welding the rear quarter panel into place

Image

GT Rich continued to clean up bits, here in the mini parts washer

Image

and I kept slapping more stripper on

Image

Rear quarter looking a bit neater

Image

be warned! this has to be the nastiest, fiddliest, smelliest job we've encountered so far!

Image

at least the decklid was looking a bit lighter

Image

the doors are going to need a bit of fettling to get just right, here Alex is setting the first piece in place

Image

Image

the inside of the decklid being stripped

Image

and although it's hard to see from this pic, it is actually starting to look a bit cleaner in here

We then used brushes and some warm water to rinse the worst of the gunge away

(note to self, wear a face mask as the paint stripper despite being watered down still stings when it hits you in the face! :eekemoticon

Image

then some water was blown in through a paint gun to give it a good rinse out

Image

a quick blast with the air line cleaned it out

Image

then some thinners to avoid any rust and a good dry off with a heat gun

Image

although it's not finished it shouldn't take too long to shift the rest of the paint next time

undoubtably the least enjoyable job on the Jagerbug so far!

Right - Time for some updates

Tuesday night Paul & I continued with the doors

Image

Cleaning up the welds on the door aperture and the door top so we can check alignment

Image

also cleaning back the roof join

Image

before fully welding the door tops once we were satisfied with their position

 Image

Image

then cleaning the welds back so we can shut the door and check position again

Image

we then moved over to the passenger side - tacking and clamping the frame in position ready for the same treatment

Image

More pics to come from weds night and friday - Nick will post weds when he returns, I will post Fridays pics once weds are up emoticon

Re: The JagerBug - Club Racecar

apologies for the delay in posting these folks, have been away in Wales on a stag do

pics from last Wednesday night...

i found the mini bottle tops that we'll be using as dustcaps on the wheels

Image

before this lot can go off to be zinc plated it all needs cleaning, first in the parts washer then by hand

Image

Image

literally every nut and bolt was cleaned up

a pair of cases back from having a damn good steam clean by Graeme

Image

then Graeme had more fun sandblasting

Image

as you can see it's a lot cleaner inside the rear vent now

Image

but not clean enough! emoticon so out came the paint stripper again!
