sandblasting was a bit chilly to say the least as it's set up outside in Alex's new car port

Image

Frosty popped in and and lended a much needed hand

Image

sandblasting was done in shifts to avoid frostbite! Graeme came back in and finished off the stripping of the decklid

the decklid nearly finished

Image

Frosty managed to get a lot of the 'awkward' welding done

Re: The JagerBug - Club Racecar

after thursday spent recovering from a late night weds ( like a hangover but without the alcohol) we started friday morning

I started by fabricating the new sections usnder the rear seat area - cutting out the rotten areas the heater pipes come through and making new sections with no pipes as we wont have heating

Image

Image

these were then primed with weldable primer

Image

And bolted in prior to being welded into place

Image

Whilst I was doing this, Gt Rich was stripping the black primer from the new bonnet

Image

Image

Meanwhile I cut out the other side and made up the new panel

Re: The JagerBug - Club Racecar

Once they were built it was time to start on the gearbox mounts - gearbox is to be solid mounted and raised by an inch - at the rear and with a mid mount
I used an old front section as a template for cutting the front mount out of 8mm plate

Image

Roughly marked out

Image

then cut with the plasma

Image

prior to being profiled with the sander then drilled and bolted to a dummy case once its studs had been lengthened

Image

Then it was time to start on the rear mount

Image

Marked up and cut out

Image

then offered up

Image

Frosty arrived after work and started some more fettling of the body

Image

and I cleaned up the rear mount, drilled it and bolted it into place

Frosty continued working his way around the shell finishing areas off

Image

and I tacked the mounting plates in place on the new gearbox cradle

Image

New mid mount clamped in place - ready for me to set its position once I have fitted its new nose cone - we are using a split van nose cone which lowers the shift rod an inch - keeping it in the tunnel minimising mods to the shifter mech

Image

More later emoticon
