Last started with removing the temporary decals we'd applied for Dubfreeze

Image

It was a shame to see them go

Image

Alex was busy drilling the drums to Chevy 5 pattern (and sniffling)

Image

So the rest of us cracked on with removing the gearbox we'd used for Dubfreeze

We needed to swap boxes. Alex & Paul had removed the box from the oval that was fitted with shorter axles. Firstly, pughdog snr removed the nosecone from the earlier box

Image

the nose cones were swapped with the box that had come out of the Jagerbug

Image

Alex was still busy on the lathe

Alex did his sums to ensure the new holes were drilled in the correct place emoticon

Whilst I cleaned up a pair of gearbox cases

Image

another enjoyable job!

the earlier box was fitted back into the car

With the shorter axled gearbox in place and the wheels refitted it bacame clear that we may not need wider wings afterall emoticon

Image

We'll hopefully gain a few more mil clearance with wing beading

Image

but it's still very close, so we've decided to flare the rear arches slightly, fits in with our 70's gasser look too, here Alex has drawn around the a fixed point on the tyre wall giving a template of the area to be cut away

Yet another skill Alex shows the team, using modelling clay back from his days studying automobile design at university, he moulds the shape to create the flare to the rear wing

Image

it's really strange stuff, it's heated with a heat gun, mouled into place then hardens really quickly as it's wax based

Image

with a bit of skillful moulding it began to take shape

Re: The JagerBug - Club Racecar

Thanks to money raised by the raffle run on Sunday at Dubfreeze we were able to collect this lot this week, all the paint needed to dazzle your eyes as the Jagerbug turns orange emoticon

Image

i think all this rubbing down of rear vents, seats and gearboxes is giving my OCD, you could almost see you face in the box by the time I'd finished 'cleaning it up'

Image

so after that I made a start getting the templates made for the windows, first we'll get the shape right in card, then thin ply to trial fit the shortened rubbers to make sure everything fits nicely

Re: The JagerBug - Club Racecar

had a morning of tying up loose ends. a t rip to the tip to get rid of bags and bags of Jager rubbish that had been building up. a trip down to pay our bill at our clothing supplier, Impsport of Lincoln. And last but not least a trip to GSF to pick up some crank bearings

then after lunch Alex continued with the rear offside flare on the arch. was beginning to take shape nicely emoticon

Image

my attempt at an arty pic
