Re: Rizzo the Rat Garth, in between the spotlights, bucket seats and radio had you thought about something boring like waxoyling the heater channels and generaly rustproofing the hell out of Rizzo's cavities? Or fixing some of the non MOT fail bodywork which is still rough?
Re: Rizzo the Rat erm, no. Hadn't really thought about that. Thought the body work would be ok as people deliberately make VWs rat look or is there some knack to making it not go rustier? As for waxoiling underneath and heater channels etc, how much is this sort of thing likely to cost as would at some point in the future like to restore Rizzo to his former glory. Got some pics from the 90's I think when he was the original cream colour and it looked nice. Most Bugs that colour seem to be Herbie replicas!
Re: Rizzo the Rat I'm not sure of the cost but when I put two heater channels in flash, I waxoyled one and never got round to doing the other. The one I didn't do was rotten through in just 2 yrs the other is still intact 14yrs later.
I think somewhwere else on the forum the cost of replacing heater channels was quoted at something like £600(?) a side.
Rat look bugs are usually actually really solid with just surface rust and top notch running gear.
I guess I'm just saying don't make the mistake of buying lots of bits to make him nice and thinking you don't have to do anything to the boring important bits just cos he's past an MOT :-/
