Nikkis Beetle: Princess Fiona
Camera was playing up a bit so not many pics and not uploaded them yet.
Swapped the front and back seats for some I found on VZi. They are navy vinyl with a nice velour middle section and will look really nice once they have had a clean though I didn't realise how much more difficult 3 point runners were (thanks to Alex for explaining how to get the things out!). Anyway, in and looking much better now
By the way, if anyone wants the old basket weave black vinyl ones, they are free for collection: back seat and passanger seat seem pretty good but drivers seat has a couple of (big) rips in it. But what do you want for free?
Also on a smaller note, managed to get in a door card (nicked from Rizzo until I pick up my new ones from Dubfreeze), a hubcap as I dented one, decklid vent trim (held on with modified paper clips as most of the tabs had snapped), some nice taper tip exhaust trims, the Mota Liat steering wheel that I had in Ringo and a chrome Mooneyes gear knob which I wish I hadn't told her was for her car as I rather like it myself!
Tomorrows jobs are a wash ( ), take off the bumpers and find somewhere for the front numberplate, swap over the clear indicators from Rizzo and give what's left of the original a quite wipe over as it has a couple of mould spots from being stood while we've been away.
Then come Sunday, picking up some Slotmags, lowering springs and inserts, Blade bumpers and conversion irons, fiberglass rear wings with frenched in Mini lights (she hates the elephant foot lights) and some light eye lids plus whatever else we see for it at a reasonable cost!
Also got a smooth decklid with VW cut out of it but she doesn't want to fit this til after Dubfreeze as it isn't the same colour and she wants it looking nice for its first 'show'.
Will get some pics up tomorrow.
Has anyone got the vent trim for under the rear window to fit a 1303? I had some that I had as spare for Ringo but didn't realise that it didn't fit 1303s and since putting the deck lid trim on, it's really calling out for it

Re: Nikkis Beetle: Princess Fiona
Yesterday managed to get the bumpers off but indicators will have to wait until I have some amber paint for the bulbs (tomorrow). I took it up to Nikki's but she didn't get it washed
Pics are now uploaded, will have them on later and looking forward to getting all the nice new bits at Dubfreeze

Re: Nikkis Beetle: Princess Fiona
The plans I had for finally sorting this car out while I had a bit of leave came crashing around me when it went for its MOT. Amongst easy stuff like the headlights flashing alternately instead of at the same time and no front numberplate was several bits of welding. I took it to my welder who said £200 tops for what was on the sheet. Unfortunately, when he started poking around, he found stuff that the MOT man missed and we didn't just want to bodge it through an MOT as it seemed it had been in the past as we plan to keep it and also as this is the 'family' Beetle (as it has seats in the back instead of speakers!) so we want to make sure she's as safe as possible.
The welder actually said it may be easier for us to sell her (the car not my daughter) as it looked to be about £500 worth of welding and it would probably want the same again next year. We are in limbo with her a bit at the moment as several people have enquired about buying her aswell as some of the parts I have bought in the last few months but Nikki really wants to keep her as it's her first Beetle and I bought her for her. Bit short on money now though as have recently bought:
Wolfrace Slotmags
Smart car front tyres
Chunky rear tyres
Lowering springs
Whitewall tyre trims
Bonnet vent trim
Under rear window vent trim
Custom decklid (currently buying another custom decklid as first one requires a little work)
Mini bullet mirrors
4" peep mirror
A few Mooneyes accesories (number plate surround, door lock pins, valve caps, aerial ball, gearknob, dash plaque, stickers, etc)
New rear wings
1200 rear lights for the clear lenses I have
Chrome 'flaming' interior mirror
Some shiney engine bits
Red calliper paint with PORSCHE decals
Half moon vents (fully chrome ones)
USA style number plates
Audi style side lights
Etc, etc...
The plan at the moment seems to be to keep her but look out for a decent chassis so at least when we put it on, we know it's solid and don't need to worry about next year's MOT and while we are looking, concentrate on my Rizzo The Rat which is at the welders too needing quite a lot of work (though at leat he has a solid chassis now!).
Anyway, a few piccies:
Note the original steering wheel back in as the Mota Lita doesn't have a horn and we thought the MOT man may appreciate it. As it turns out, there's no pleasing some people!
Donkey has since been joined by a few friends!
The black wire running accross was to get a live to one of the back lights as it stopped working on MOT morning. Why are girls so stubborn?
She'll be wanting a new heater channel then (though this wasn't spotted by the MOT man though the holes were poked in by welder man (MOT man and welder man are super heroes copyrighted by the Garf corporation, all rights reserved)!
Thought this was an interesting pic of the garage floor. (note to self "define interesting")
Shame cos still a nice looking car...
Some of the parts for finishing her:
Swapping these for some brand new steel wings
And this was a trial of the caliper paint and PORSCHE decals which are probably a bit wasted on the Golf but maybe it will help the sale when I get back to Deutscheland? (Yes I know they're dirty)!
Number plates on! Well at least that's one thing ticked off the fail sheet

Re: Nikkis Beetle: Princess Fiona
Aren't those plates still a fail though Garf? Thinking about spacing and sizes of letters......
