Viewing Platform

I'll post some pics as soon as I get the railings up and some paint on it,but anyhow, today my son and I put up a viewing platform so I can sit up there and watch my birds fly.It is 17 feet up in the air emoticon so the houses don't block my view.I tried it out tonight and that is quite something being up there when the birds are flying low AND when they're up high.

Kelly... Iam looking forward to see some photos of your platfrom. Way back in the far cornors of my mind I too had an idea to built something like that, but on the roof of my loft. You just may have sparked me to continue with it. Thanks buddy....

Re: Viewing Platform

Sounds pretty nice kelly. Especially since i've got 2 birds that like to line out about a mile away and do their stuff for whomever. They don't always do it, but more than once is too much. I've got full grown oak & maple trees nearly surrounding the yard. I suppose I could go to the house roof or jump in the car, but after about 10 or 15 minutes I hear their wings whistling in for a landing. Not being to fond of heights, i'll just be content to see what I can. Once I saw an ad for a parachute. 1 parachute forsale...cheap...slightly stained, never been opened...but passed that one up... emoticon

Re: Viewing Platform

I think the platform is neat and the idea of paragliding I like also BUT what happens when you get all involved with what the birds are doing and you think you can do that to?? I can just see ya folding up your wings and free falling then hit the breaks just 20 feet off the ground and hopfully try it again. Ya better get a good safety net in case you try to out do the birds. Larry

Hard to grow melons in this coastal climate. With time I'll get some kiwi fruit vine growing on the tower legs.

Re: Viewing Platform

Here are the pics of my viewing platform. My aluminum swivel lawnchair is great up there but I think a hammock may be in order for watching those kits that fly long and high.
