Re: Roll down

Do you mean to breed her from,Bob?Why would you want to breed from her if she has bumped like that?It is my natural assumption that one wouldn't want to keep that trait going.

Re: Roll down

She hit on the way into the loft and miss judged the barn as the wind started to blow quit hard as she was coming in. She has never came close to hitting before. She is rolling over 60 feet now mostly from very high up. She is off the old pair I sent you.

No she was the first bird I bred from the old pair I sent you. I have others from the pair that roll but only 10 feet so you should get some deep rollers from the pair this hen I have started rolling wright from the start.

Re: Roll down

Bob,
I'm wondering if that is dangerous,to be rolling right away like that.I know with my Birmingham Rollers,it is usually not a good sign if they roll at sooner than 3 months or so,even good ones sometimes take a year or more to show the goods.I don't mean to be sounding like I'm doubting your judgement on stocking her,but you sure have me thinking on this one.I'm very curious as to what types of birds will be the best performers in the long run.Like for instance, the 2 yellow Skistamis birds I bought from the guy in Alberta are tailriding deep and avoiding the henery,so I have some hope for them but not sure how long to wait.

Re: Roll down

Kel flush the Birmingham from your brain! emoticon emoticon emoticon A roll down Oriental isnt a bad thing like a roll down Birm is. You can push the envelope too far but breeding a roll down generally gets deeper birds. Bred to a bird with good control gets better rollers.

Orientals generally have very good control. That is why you see so few roll downs. I bred two this year out of a father daughter mating, both hens. One survived and will be mated to a Tuff cоck this year.

Re: Roll down

I have a tuffie cоck brother to the two yellows I sent you that will be her mate as he only spins 4 to 5 feet but does it alot maybe every minute or so. I think this will give me deep rollers but they should have control. My hen usely goes very high and does her deep rolls but some time if they don't go wright to the landing board on the way down she will give up a short roll. That is what happened and the wind moved her over just enough to hit the edge of the barn.
If you are going to have deep rollers some of them will hit just part of the game.
