TWIZZLE
It seems we don't talk much about other OR tricks. The twizzle is an interesting one I see these birds do. Its a quick horizontal spin and the bird will continue flying without loss of elivation.
Some times I see them do what I call a half twizzle reverse. They spin around and fly back into the air space they just came from with there feathers screaming fighting against inertia.

Re: TWIZZLE
I see most of my twizzles at the end of a roll, spin, or plate spin. I like to see the one you described the best though.
Another favorite of mine is the slow helicopter/plate spin after a roll.

Re: TWIZZLE
Kel thanks, I have got some performance out of most every bird I raised last year, I think there is only one bird I have not seen tumble, but they do, most all of the OR tricks, just not as often as I would like. They keep improving with age, its always fun to see these ORs suprise you with there tricks.

Re: TWIZZLE
Other then when the very young birds are trying their wing for the first few times: They are flying around the coop and are flying for joy and they will twizzle or flip and before they know it they are standing on the ground. They look a little embarrassed.
Can birds show embarrassment, or is that a human trait? Maybe that's a hidden Heterozygous recessive trait that needs a government grant for futher study! Nick how much do we have in our treasury?

Re: TWIZZLE
Yeah, they sure like practicing the Twizzle when they are learning to fly. It's quite comical.

Re: TWIZZLE
Twizzle and many other antics are done not becouse of their clumsines or inability to perform but indeed becuse of their specific built and shape that dosn't recuire strength but technic to manuver. Just like airplaines and sailplaines that are designed and built for specific tasks. For comparison BR is built to spin backwards, short round, lov keel; perfect for what they are ment to be. OR have wide tails and strong back and rump, that enable them to manuver on strong aerodinamic wings in any direction at will.
I let my birds (during flying season) to walk on backyard. They play all the time, levitate a foot of ground and then twizzle, hup and tumble, spred wings and quickly move left and right and than zoom around. Nothing emberesing in it, if they don't do this I would wonder if they are pure OR.

Re: TWIZZLE
Samir I must say, I think when my birds do the twizzle as mature birds they seem to be showing off and having fun showing there abilities. Thank you for a better explanation of this.

Re: TWIZZLE
I'v read of lack of succes in crossing OR and BR, two great performers. End resolt is F16 with Biplane wings.
