Breeding
Just curious as to, do most on this list breed year round or do they split them up during the winter? I usually split my pairs late sprong and don't pair up till the middle of February.

Re: Breeding
I'm so eager to get some ORs in the air,I have the ones I won on the summer auction all breeding now with lights on 14 hours a day and feeding a good rich mix.
My Birminghams I put together early feb and split them up early august.

Re: Breeding
When I do get some, I'll probably do the same. They do seem like an incredible pigeon. Wayne

Re: Breeding
These guys weren't BSn tho when they said how mean a bird they are.The poor little ember cоckbird I have him in the breeder loft with a pair of blacks and the yellow hen(which I was hoping would mate with him)and the yellow hen won't let him down to eat or drink. He just stays on top of one plywood nestbox in there and I have to lock up the hen so he can come down and take a drink.

Re: Breeding
Here, that is in SE Arizona I put the pairs together about December 1st and break them up June 1st. There are seven nice months of the year , the others are to HOT. With the onset of the cooler temps. the birds are enjoying their daily fly time. The six bird FOR yb kit is coming along nicely. They flew for 96 min. and took 55 sec. to trap. The yb Catalonian Tumbler kit flew for 70 min. this morning. It was 42 degrees and a slight SE wind, a little stronger wind would of made it perfect for flying.
In Minnesota we all mated up our birds February 14th and broke them up the end of July or August.

Re: Breeding
This 2009 breeding will be my first attempt to reproduce my FOR's. I plan on putting them together mid Feb to early March. Hopefully, I will breed up thru Aug. Also depends on how soon they come into the molt. I have 3 cоckbirds and 5 hens,
spearated at the time. But that's my strategy.

Re: Breeding
I usually put my pairs together around December 1. I like to stop in July but always seem to have some go through September. Mine would breed year round if I let them but the cоcks start to get slack on feeding around August so I like to give them a break.

Re: Breeding
I thought mine had quit - I didn't see any signs of interest after the last round fledged. I quit looking for a while and then found some eggs. Now, I have seven young birds in the loft. I didn't know the oldest birds were even there until I heard them squeaking. They are on a spot that is too high to see without climbing up on something. Boy, I will never build like that again.
