Re: Performance AND Good Looks
Right now I have about 6 rolldown birds that I know of.Interesting that happened to me this year is that some of my breeders (last year birds) became rolldowns this year.Last year they were deep rollers but this year they started to hit the ground. Some of them take of, at 5-10 feet hight they start to roll and go all the way down to the ground hit the ground and continue rolling like Parlors until I catch them rolling that way.The other day one of my young birds took of and I knew it is going to roll down.I waited and as soon he started to roll from maybe 20 feet down I moved closer and coughed him at 5 feet hights in the air on the wing.I had nothing to lose.Either I cath him or he would hit the grond.Samir has a few roll downs him self.Does anyone have any roll downs this year?

Re: Performance AND Good Looks
Haven't even had a Birmie rolldown this year.Been passing on all my ORs that have been maturing so will have to wait till next year to see ANY kind of solid performance.

Re: Performance AND Good Looks
One very importand thing I would like to tell is: One pair of real OR-s should give you a loots of different colors.More colors you get out of one pair of OR-s makes that pair more worth for real OR-s breeder.

Re: Performance AND Good Looks
I have not had any roll downs so far. They do love to fly just over the tree tops though and do a roll. One even rolled into a tree. All heck broke loose until he got out again. I don't think that can be counted as a roll down as he was still 50' in the air...

Re: Performance AND Good Looks
Joe the roll down is : when your bird starts rolling and does not stop at all.It does not matter what hight it is.But closer to the ground, lover risk of breaking a neck or wing or tail bone.I had one that really brocke his tail bone. The others are OK.One last year bird(now in breeding stock)Rolled down from probably 200 - 300 feet and fall into lake(water),I saved him. After few days he took of again and hit the roof. After a little break, took of again and rolled down to the concrete.I toughed it was dead laying on his back and not moving at all.I grabed him and I had a ugly picture to see.His head was swollen and size of an tenis ball.He could not eat and stand for few days.I put some ice on his swollen head. Feed the bird by hand like sqeaker. After a week or so he started to eat a bit but a noticed he could not see that well.I separated him for few days and he recovered .Still problems with one eye, but gave me a heck of a baby's this year.A litlle story if you guys don't mind to share with you.
