Flying Orientals in Canada?

I just received another e-mail from a fellow in Millet,Alberta, requesting to purchase a pair or 2 of ORs.I think I have 8 fanciers wanting birds now from all across the country from here in B.C. all the way to New Brunswick there are guys interested in ORs.The only true flying stock in the country are what I have and I only have 3 pair breeding and 11 youngsters so as you can see I am in a bit of a dilemma what to do here.Need to get some more breeders up here soon I think. emoticon

I believe it would be a good service if the club down here could ship some good birds to a central loft and have them all certified at once and then shipped up to Canada. That could be a seed shipment for the Canadian guys. of course all the buyers should be club members.

What we need is someone in the US who will volunteer to hold the birds in one spot and have them certified and then shipped to Canada. The Canadian buyers can then pay the sellers and the sellers can ship the birds to the holding center. We might have to charge the buyers a little more and give the kick-back to the one who holds and ships the birds. I would say, do a bunch of them at once then it wouldn't have to be done again.

If you build it they will come. emoticon emoticon emoticon

It is great idea to work on a system how to get the birds across border with a minimum hassle.

We need someone with clean, dry space in their loft and to be willing to receive any and all the birds to be exported(up to a certain number). They all would need to be vaccinated/vet checked and papers filled out/sent to USDA vet for certification then birds shipped to the different border town Post Offices where the buyers can cross into the US to pick them up.Pretty straight forward,,,,is there anyone in the US to help with the central loft?I have a couple different guys already kindly said they would help me out with bringing some birds in for myself but don't feel I should ask them to do it for all of Canada!LOL.If this many guys import some birds,we'll surely get FORs going strong in Canada.

Great Idea!

This is exactly what is done for poultry across the country. As a group, a large order is put together. One person deals with the logistics of getting the order to a central area/convenient area. Then the individuals each make arrangements to pay for and pick up their birds.

I'm really glad to hear you all discussing this. This would make all the difference here in Canada. Population explosion!

I have to wait until another time, but I'm here cheering you all on!
